Starting therapy

  • Worrying about your thoughts or feelings?
  • Avoiding specific situations?
  • Feeling overwhelmed?
  • Wanting to build resilience?

These are all common experiences and get in the way of us living the life we want.

Talking to a professional can help provide strategies for managing thoughts and feelings, overcome avoidance and reclaim our lives.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a practical, problem-solving approach, which is recommended by the NHS and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines.

CBT is particularly effective for:

  • Feeling self-conscious in social situations
  • Flashbacks, nightmares or feeling jumpy after a traumatic event
  • Worrying about physical health symptoms
  • Work stress, perfectionism & giving presentations
  • Phobias about a specific object, situation or transport
  • Intrusive thoughts, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Depression, feeling low, withdrawn
  • Panic attacks, anxiety, worrying

Experienced

I have 14 years' experience providing therapy and teaching within the NHS, universities and in private practice.   I have experience working with a broad range of issues including: depression; anxiety; panic attacks; phobias; health anxiety; social anxiety; Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Empathic

I believe therapy depends on a therapist's ability to really listen and be empathic, understanding, genuine and non-judgemental.

I have a broad range of techniques and strategies for overcoming different issues. However, empathic understanding is important to identify the most relevant techniques for you and help support you in trying them out.
