Worrying about your thoughts or feelings?

Avoiding specific situations?

Feeling overwhelmed?

Wanting to build resilience?

These are all common experiences and get in the way of us living the life we want.  Talking to a professional  can help us accept what we can’t change, overcome avoidance and provide strategies for managing thoughts and feelings.

About meDr Kate Castle logo with red flag

I am qualified as both a Chartered Psychologist and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. Having completed a Masters and Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, identifying and treating a broad range of mental health conditions from different theoretical approaches, I chose to specialise in CBT. In my view, this approach provides an effective, focused, evidence-based therapy in a limited number of appointments. I have been practicing as a CBT Therapist, in the NHS, universities and private practice, for over 12 years.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is the treatment of choice, recommended by the NHS and NICE guidelines, for depression and a range of anxiety conditions listed below. If you would like to try CBT, it is important to find a therapist who is accredited by the British Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapists (BABCP).

BABCP logo www.babcp.comBABCP accredited therapists have a thorough training in CBT theory, research evidence and techniques and must remain up to date through ongoing CBT professional development. They can accurately identify the most relevant cognitive model, adapt it to the client’s individual experiences and then suggest the most appropriate CBT techniques for clients to try out.

CBT is particularly effective for:
